CoS met at the Upper Moutere Church on the weekend on 20 to 22 February.
Manse Rectification Project
- The project has been completed.
- The project financial report will be finalised and along with a report on the work undertaken will be prepared and sent to Synod Delegates and Congregations after the next Council of Synod meeting in April.
- There are a number of items that must be completed in order for the property to be rented.
- We are discussing the rental agreements with two Wellington property Managers.
Appointments
- CoS appointed Johanna Wood (Manawatu) to the LCA Judicial Tribunal
Other matters considered over the period
- CoS have introduced the Consent Agenda process in order to spend time on the issues rather than administrative items. This will be reviewed in October 2026.
- CoS members start their meetings with a devotion and sharing their Minute for Mission.
- CoS received draft financial statements for Q4 and year to 31 December 2025. These will be reviewed and sent to audit.
- CoS approved the changes to the Luther’s Small Catechism Te Katikihama Poto for printing as the second edition.
- CoS have received new policies from the LCA and will discuss with the LCA about implementation in the New Zealand context. The policies are:
- 06.05 LCA Prevention of Harm, Harassment and Abuse Policy
- SC03 Safeguarding Children and Vulnerable Adults
- SC07 Standards of Ethical Behaviour and Code of Conduct
- CoS had a discussion with the Upper Moutere Church Leadership team about their successes, concerns and issues.
Mission Directions
- A member of the LCNZ has been approached to fill the role of the Project Manager. That person was interviewed at the meeting and a job description was discussed. This is being progressed.
- A congregational Life Ambassador position is also being discussed.
- Artwork, website and resources are being developed.

- CoS are preparing to meet with LCANZ General Church Board later in the year.
