LCNZ zone gatherings updates

8 May 2024

The LCANZ Ordination Way Forward Project Team have been assisting the Church through the General Church Board (GCB) and the College of Bishops (CoB) in preparing a response to the Synod 2023 resolution regarding the Ordination of Women.

The wider church has now started to be prepared to take responsibility for the project in preparation for the Convention of Synod and then post-Convention.

The project team have released the final framework that will be presented to Convention of Synod. They will then be working on the Convention of Synod proposal which will contain all the detail required for a Convention presentation. This will be released in July and will be published in the LCANZ Convention of Synod Book of Reports.

There is also a webinar being held on 14 May from 5:30pm (ACDT) – see details and register here:  Way Forward Framework

As part of that process all districts are being asked to hold Zone Gatherings to enable ALL members to come and hear and discuss the framework and resolutions. This is your chance to hear what the proposed changes are and how that will impact on your church. It is important that all members understand how this may affect us all. The resolution at Convention will impact how the church in New Zealand looks past LCANZ Convention 2024 and LCNZ Convention 2025.

The LCNZ are holding their meetings in early September in conjunction with the next Bishop’s congregation tour.  Bishop Richard will be leading these sessions.
