LCNZ will have a new Bishop
The LCA NSW and ACT held their District Pastors Conference and Convention of Synod over the weekend of 6 to 10 March. At that Convention they elected a new Bishop and Assistant Bishop.
Bishop Elect is Pastor Richard Schwedes from the Sydney city Parish. He will be installed on 28 July.
Assistant Bishop is Pastor John Borchert from the Walla Walla Parish.
Under the Memorandum of Understanding signed in August 2023 Pastor Richard will also become the Bishop of LCNZ.
Bishop Elect Richard is currently in New Zealand with Bishop Robert and Jenny on their congregation tour. This visit includes Council of Synod, Gateway Gift Trust Board and Church Worker Conference face to face meetings, the Spice Retreat, and visits to all congregations. They return to Sydney on 22 April. Bishop Robert will remain in office until Bishop Elect Richard’s installation.
Please keep Bishop Robert in your prayers as he and Jenny prepare for retirement and add Bishop Elect Richard and Assistant Bishop John as they prepare to take on these new roles.
