Installation of Maccarinth Thomas
On 29 March 2026, Mountainside Lutheran Church joyfully celebrated the installation of Pastor Maccarinth Monickaraj as our new pastor. It was a truly uplifting occasion, filled with thanksgiving and a deep sense of God’s provision. We give thanks to our Lord, who has richly blessed Mountainside by opening doors and guiding Pastor Maccarinth to us.
We are especially grateful to Bishop Richard Schwedes for his leadership and support in making this appointment possible. Pastor Mac, together with his wife Hannah and their children, Michelle and Micah, received a warm welcome into the Mountainside family. It was evident from the beginning that this was a Spirit-led moment in the life of our congregation.
This installation follows closely on the recent ordination of Pastor Felix Tong, another significant milestone for Mountainside. Having two pastors serving
within our community is a remarkable blessing. We extend our sincere thanks to CoS the LCNZ, and Bishop Schwedes, for their partnership and encouragement in helping to make this possible.
We have already been privileged to experience Pastor Mac’s ministry during his time as interim pastor during our vacancy. This period allowed him to build meaningful relationships within the congregation, and in turn, for the congregation to come to know and appreciate his pastoral heart. It has been especially encouraging to witness Pastor Mac and Pastor Felix working together so harmoniously. Though they come from different cultural backgrounds and ministry experiences, they complement one another beautifully. We believe God has intentionally brought these two leaders together for the strengthening of His church.
Prior to this call, Pastor Mac had been serving in Hamilton, where Hannah was employed at the Waikato Hospital. Together, they ministered to the Hamilton community. That connection continues, with both our pastors supporting the Hamilton congregation through regular worship leadership, Bible study, and pastoral care.
As Pastor Mac and his family now settle into Auckland, we look forward with great anticipatio
n to this new chapter of ministry. We are confident that God will continue to guide and bless Mountainside through their leadership, as we grow together in faith and service.
