Mark Tung is approved for ordination
Mark Tung is the Pastoral Leader at Botany Lutheran Church and has been working toward becoming a Special Ministry Pastor (SMP) of the Lutheran Church of Australia and New Zealand.
Mark has completed the study components of the programme, been through a colloquy*, and has been approved by ordination of the LCANZ College of Bishops in December.
Mark will be ordained on 6 April 2025 at St Columba Presbyterian Church, 480 Ti Rakau Road, Bombay at 5pm. LCANZ Bishop Paul will lead the ordination service. All members of the Lutheran Church are invited to attend to celebrate this momentous occasion for both Mark and Botany Lutheran Church.
The service will be followed by a light meal.
*What is a colloquy?
a gathering for discussion of theological questions – “students attend colloquies and seminars in their chosen fields of study”
in the LCANZ this happens between a group of senior theologians and church members and a candidate preparing for ordination, having followed an external to the LCANZ process of study, discernment and leadership.
