Council of Synod news (December 2023 to February 2024)
LCNZ Levy approved to remain the same at $150 per communing member over 18 – this has been communicated to the congregations. The new figure will be applied to the latest statistics results in March 2024.
LCNZ pastors salary schedule was approved – this has been communicated to the congregations.
Pastoral Supervision costs to be paid by LCNZ – this has been communicated to the pastors and congregations.
Insurance renewal was received, and this was set at a figure of 8.58% greater than the previous year.
LCNZ calendar was approved – this is on the LCNZ website (lutheran.org.au).
Pastor Mark Whitfield and Petrus Simons were reappointed to the Roman Catholic – Lutheran Dialogue.
The LCNZ manse in Khandallah requires some major maintenance, and this is being progressed.
Draft Annual Financial Statements have been seen and approved for audit processing (reporting due in April). The initial results show a deficit of $17,234.
The December investment report was presented. This shows an annual gain of 12.6%.
LCNZ Synod delegates are reminded that they must hold a police vetting check and Safe Church Level 1 training prior to registering for Convention of Synod.
The CoS had a session with Pastor Nich Kitchen on mission activity at Mountainside. This is the first of a deliberate engagement with mission in the LCNZ. If your congregation would like to present, please contact Andy Marr or Robert Bartholomaeus to discuss and arrange a segment on a future CoS meeting.
LCA and CoS are preparing proposals to provide assistance to delegates travelling to Convention of Synod in Adelaide. Further information to follow once these have been approved.
Pastors Conference will be held in Adelaide immediately prior to Convention of Synod. Pastors Nich Kitchen and Mark Whitfield will be attending as LCANZ pastor delegates.
