The Olive Tree
The Olive Tree is the national quarterly magazine of the LCNZ, for which LSM has oversight. You can read The Olive Tree online.
Diane Davison (Hamilton) leads the prayer chain, prayer network. Requests for prayer can be forwarded to our Bishop and he ensures that the prayer network confidentially covers the person or issue in prayer. If you have a prayer need, but wish for it to remain confidential to him, this is also welcomed.
The Toolbox lists many of the services and resources available through LSM. This includes seminars and workshops run by LSM, retreat ministry options, and information about other training and resourcing ministries.
The Toolbox also catalogues the LSM Resources Library (Christian teaching videos, books, Bible Studies or Christian growth studies etc.). These resources are available for borrowing at a minimal cost. Check the catalogue for what is available.
Included is a listing of Holiday Bible Club resources and quality children's videos on Christmas and Easter from the Puzzle Club series, excellent to use in programmes and kids clubs - available for free to anyone who would like them.
There are also pamphlets/booklets on topics dealing with everyday life issues - to give away, or, if a large number are required, for the cost of postage & packaging. Topics covered include anger management, angels, parenting, depression and grief.

Kogudus Retreats are weekends for Christian spiritual growth, encouragement, refreshment and laughter. Kogudus is an Estonian word meaning Christian fellowship. Kogudus is a great opportunity to spend some quality time with God and with people who want to grow in their faith. We focus on the message of God the Father's love for us in Christ Jesus and his presence with us, as we fellowship with and serve each other, all by the enabling power of the Holy Spirit.
The weekends feature prepared talks, group sharing, meaningful worship, discussion of biblical truth, and opportunity for prayer. It begins with Dinner on Friday evening and ends with lunch on Sunday.
As Kogudus is designed as a retreat from the business and distractions of every day life it is not designed to accommodate children. We encourage parents to attend if they can arrange alternate care for their children. Some families have found it helpful for Mum to attend the Northern Kogudus and Dad to attend the Southern Kogudus, allowing both a chance to retreat in a calendar year. Likewise, grandparents offer a significant gift in caring for children so that parents can retreat together.
Youth are encouraged to attend with a leader from their church, or a parent/guardian. Again, as the retreat is not designed specifically for the needs of children and young people in mind, youth need to be prepared to listen and engage with the presenting speakers and ChildSafe requires an adult to be responsible for their care across the weekend.
Focus areas of Kogudus retreat material:
- Faith and Life (currently not in use)
- Prayer - Growing in a Relationship, Not Mastering a Technique
- Gifts for Ministry - spiritual gifts (currently not in use)
- Growing in Discipleship - developing as a functioning follower of Christ
- Walking by Faith - Not by Sight, Fear nor Unbelief
- Being Led By The Spirit
- The Truth that Sets You Free
National Youth Camp
LSM supports the delivery of a one week Youth Camp, usually delivered in the July School Holidays at a location on the North Island (although dates and location is flexible!). The camp us designed for high school aged young people, although intermediate students have been welcomed on a case by case basis in previous years.
A retreat ministry for the wives of the Pastors of the LCNZ. A chance for the SPICE to be renewed, refreshed and support each other, as they support the ministry of their husbands.
A Retreat Day
For Christian reflection, Biblical meditation, refreshment and encouragement through sharing, caring and prayer etc. - arranged as requested with a local/regional group.
